A Hard lesson Learned

This is the skull I have been working on for awhile. Until about 20 minutes ago it was 3/4 of the way done. I had about 20 plus hours in it. While I was working on it, I wasn't completely happy with the colors I chose for the dots. And some of the dots were irregular in shape. But I thought'well, it's ok I guess.' And I kept going. But today I washed the whole thing clean. Because as artists, we shouldn't settle for 'it's ok'. We should always do our best work. It is our responsibility to our talents.

So that is the hard lesson learned, or should I say relearned. Never settle. Always do your best.

Peace

You have beauatiful work here. You will be glad you washed it off and started again. I've been there and taken different paths different times, but when you just settle, you can never look at the piece the same way.
Good luck,

Be happy in your decision to wash it clean, those 20+ hours were spent learning a valuable lesson about you as an artist and whether or not you would settle for anything less than what you are capable of doing.:-D Cindy

Sometimes it's the process, not the product, that is important. I think we learn from everything we do, even if all traces are washed away.

although doing your best is truely the best thing to do, remember not to kill yourself over it. a very smart women once told me that "only nature is perfect" so do your best but dont obsess over it.

There is no worse feeling than an art piece that you won't be satisfied with. I have scrapped, recycled and even thrown some pieces away because they didn't feel like my best work and I was afraid they would haunt me. I think you made the right decision. Please let us know how you are doing with the second round. :^)
