A Fabric Mosiac

This is my very loose idea of St. Basils cathedral on the Red Square in Russia. This came into my head while watching a dancing show. They had dancers from all over the world. There was a russian ballerina who was very graceful.

I've always been fascinated by the Cathedral. And I thought how pretty it could be to have a ballerina on point in black silouhette (how the heck do you spell that??)in front.

So this is going to be a 16x20 canvas. I am going to paint the background a solid color. The buildings will be made up of different fabrics adhered with matte gel medium. There will be the low fence in front made from textured packing paper/cardboard, then the square will be cobblestones probably made from torn coffee dyed dictionary pages.

That's the plan anyway. I am going to have the piece blown up and make 3 copies so I have plenty on hand for patterns.

Peace

As always friend, it sounds like an innovate and avant garde idea. Very ambitious and creative, but also very doable with your artistic talent. I look forward to seeing how you progress on this exciting idea and project.

Hi Mary! Thank you for visiting my blog! It is so nice to meet you. I've had fun poking around your blog. I love the head and hairdoo you have goin' on in another post! That's zetti-ish.

I am no zetti expert and certainly not a purist and very inexperienced. I just jumped on the collage and altered art bandwagon a few months ago and am still learning so many things. My interpretation is that it is a zetti is an invented magical, spiritual, mystical creature in human-esque form. Lots of people use black and white stripes in their zetties and/or punkish elements. For me, some of mine I consider zetti-ish for the larger heads, kind of my recent signature. Anyway, I look at A LOT of other people's art A LOT of the time to find inspiration and pieces or ideas I can make my own. I am finally really studying Teesha Moore's work - kind of the expert on zetti, maybe the inventor from what I gather. I am just not as expressive or whimsical by nature so I still struggle too. I am sorry for the long post, but I wanted to encourage you to jump in and try it. There really aren't any rules or zetti police!

The drawing here is incredible. I took a lot of drawing classes in college and still can't draw well. It takes talent!

Hope you come by again and I will visit you too! Thanks again and have a good weekend!
